Our typical 2 hour in-home initial consultation agenda includes:

  • Prompt arrival for your appointment
  • Review intake forms
  • Assessment of breast/nipple 
  • Assessment of mouth/suck/function and infant weight
  • Observe feeding at breast, troubleshoot and nurse in multiple positions
  • Post-feeding weight (calculate transfer)
  • Measure nipple for appropriate flange size and review pumping techniques
  • Review your nursing “game plan” for success
  • Complimentary 2-6 weeks of follow-up via phone or secure patient portal

Follow the same basic agenda as an initial consultation. Many times used as a check-in as the baby gets older, preparation for a tie-release procedure, or during the recovery from a tie-release procedure.

  • Review intake forms and discuss client-specific concerns and risk factors for breastfeeding challenges
  • Instruction on the basics of breastfeeding (feeding cues, latching, positioning, normals in terms of feeding, weight gain, etc.)
  • Assessment of breast/nipple 
  • Assemble pump and measure nipple for appropriate flange size
  • Discuss pump settings
  • Review your nursing “game plan” for success. This is specific for each family and based on individual needs 
  • Complimentary 2-6 weeks of follow-up via phone or secure patient portal

Usually recommended for people wishing to exclusively pump for their baby.

Usually recommended for people who are bottle and formula feeding or who already have a satisfactory breastfeeding/pumping routine. Sometimes our clients schedule this type of appointment as they are headed back to work and having difficulty introducing a bottle to the baby.

  • Discuss recommended bottles and trouble-shoot bottle feeding positions
  • Individualized care-plan for helping your baby to accept a bottle

  • Create individualized care-plan for either baby-led or parent-led weaning
  • Discuss methods of minimizing complications from weaning

This type of consultation is recommended in any situation where a parent wishes to induce lactation or start lactating again after a period of time without lactating.
